Down time

Down Time

As an  interlude the Company spent some time at the Holdfast after their initial conflict with the goblins

Given that the player characters had to do the training requirement for levelling to second, which I had deferred by DM Fiat as training then would have interrupted the flow of both the game and the story in my opinion, and then third level this took around a month of game time during which they spent their time close to the Holdfast. This gave them access to accelerated healing as Violet was more than happy to use her abilities to heal the wounds they had got helping her rescue the captive villagers from the goblins.

Those who did not need to spend all of this time either healing or recovering form wounds got to spend some time doing other things mostly involving the inhabitants of the Hidden Dell and getting the palace back up and running. Americ who was increasingly concerned at his abandonment by his goddess converted one of the sheds into a small chapel and there after spent most of his time in prayer. Nyassor spent a lot of time scouting around outside the perimeter of the Dell and went missing for days at a time. Unfortunately he was unable to communicate what he was up to the rest of the company as they shared no common language and even to wards the end Aeltred’s beginning to pick up a smattering of the tongue he and Americ shared it did not help all that much as he seemed quite as taciturn as any dwarf.

Towards the beginning of the third week Violet left saying that she had other urgent business to attend to and as ever she left the Villagers in the command of their own fates with the advice of Liamar the young priest whose migraine had departed by then. After Violet left it became apparent that the villagers who had seemed little the worse for wear from their recent experience began to reveal considerable unease at being left without their protector. This was to a small extent alleviated by Liamar getting Sondan to institute a program training the villagers to form a self defence militia.

However even with this by the end of the training period tension, or rather concern about the doings of the goblins and the treats they might cause resulted in a village meeting in the communal lounge of the holdfast which was chaired by Liamar and is where the next part of the story begins.
