The Sages tower

The Sages tower

The Sages tower and its immediate environs

The tower is for the most part an old Kalamarian watch tower like the temple at the other crossing of the Flax in this case it is considerably more intact as its inheritors first the Wizards who settled here after the retreat of Kalamarian power form the region during its civil wars and now the sage added to the structure without demolishing any of it to do so.

The main tower and the small tower on the eastern side of the Flax are from the original Kalamarian occupation phase the visitors house was added by one of the wizards about fifty years ago and the stables and farm around the small tower was added by the sage who for his own reasons wanted to be more self sufficient.

The Kalamarian period buildings are solid if rough stone roofed with wooden shingles. The visitors house is a large two story half timbered building also roofed with shingles as are the more recent pig pen and stables though both of these are single story and thatched with reeds form the beds along the nearby Falax river.

The area around the sages tower in more detail
Note that all of the areas not marked as dense woods are covered with lighter woods and the occasional area of heathland where it is particularly dry, due to very porous underlying rocks rather than the climate which is actually quite damp. It is also important to not that the land even when not so marked for clarity gets increasingly hilly towards the north and east
