First Demo at Spirit Games the report

First Demo at Spirit Games the report

It was a busy Easter Saturday and the shop was full of people when I arrived so I found a suitable relatively quiet corner and set up my stuff. before talking to the card gamers in the corner several of which had expressed an interest in role playing general and had been seen to dabble  and one is a lapsed  HackMaster player who was in my original home brew game & played a mage very badly, The most enthusiastic potential role player of them was missing, but it was Easter so I assumed family duties . Interest was expressed but only after they had finished their tournament so I left them to it and did not worry when they went off to lunch - they are card game players so its not I think unfair to say most em of them are out to lunch most if not all of the time..however sadly they did not return.

Some students from Derby university also came in ostensivly to baordgame and we had a bit of a chat about HackMaster and one was interested and was going to join in however one new player does not make a party and I was still waiting for the chap I had spoken to on Thursday night who had said he would be down. The interested potential player then got into a board game with his friends so I waited.

By the time the chap turned up he was sadly off the filler length games and deep into a two hour long game of Galaxy trucker and when the chap I had been waiting for did arrive I discovered he was unable to stay for any gaming as he was just waiting to pick his car up form its yearly M.O.T, the mandatory annual roadworthyness checks on older road vehicle in the UK. So we had a bit more of a chat about HackMaster I showed him the books and talked through the pregen's  I had to hand, he was interested bu felt he was inn  too many games to commit to another.

So in the end no dice where rolled in anger, however on the upside I did get to chat to people about HackMaster and I did talk to Steve the Spirit Games mail order troll who as an ex pit fitter and all round evil git had some interesting idea's for nasty stuff that can happen down mines ans I may be extending the adventure to include some of those.

I will give it a go again but this time with a bit more advertising and more notice. I may even venture to Derby & its various games groups even if I am a very mature student.....
